Stakeholders and APC chieftains from Toto and Nasarawa local government areas of Nasarawa State have commended the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State (SSG), Barr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji and the Nasarawa Council Chairman respectively for their humanitarian gesture and people-oriented leadership in empowering citizens in Toto and Nasarawa Local Government Areas.
The empowerment programme, which was well-organized and hugely impactful, saw each of the 500 widows at Toto going home with the sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (₦50,000) to enable them strengthen their petty businesses, meet pressing family needs and improve their livelihoods.
In Toto during the disbursement exercise stakeholders hailed the initiative ,saying it could not have come at a better time, as many widows in rural communities continue to grapple with economic hardship, lack of capital and the burden of catering for their children alone.
They said providing direct cash support to 500 vulnerable women, Barr. Magaji has not only put smiles on their faces, but has also restored hope and dignity to many homes in Toto LGA.
Barrister Shuaibu Labaran Magaji who is the of Nasarawa State Renewed Hope Ambassadors has in recent time sustained the gesture of alleviating poverty of the most vulnerable women and widows in the area.
Beneficiaries, who were drawn from across wards in the local government, expressed deep gratitude to the SSG, describing him as a true son of the soil who has never forgotten his people.
“May Almighty Allah bless Matawallen Toto. This ₦50,000 will go a long way in helping us expand our small businesses and feed our children,” one of the beneficiaries said, amidst tears of joy.
The empowerment is a clear demonstration that Barr. Labaran Magaji is a leader with a human face and one who understands the pains of the common man and is committed to supporting the vision of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, in improving the welfare of the people of Nasarawa State.
“His selfless service, humility and consistent touch with the grassroots continue to set him apart as one of the most impactful SSGs Nasarawa State has ever produced.
‘As Matawallen Toto, he has indeed shown that a title is not just for honour, but a call to service.
Similarly and Nasarawa Local Government Area ,the Executive Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Hassan Ahmed distributed motorcycles, wrappers, cash and other empowerment items to women and youth at the Council Secretariat.
The empowerment programme, wass aimed at providing residents with tools, resources and opportunities to improve their livelihoods and become self-reliant.
According to the Chairman, the initiative is in support of the people-oriented policies of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, and in solidarity with the 2027 governorship ambition of Distinguished Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.
“This empowerment is to support our women and youth to be self-reliant and economically productive. It is our own way of keying into the vision of His Excellency, Engr. A. A. Sule, and also supporting the aspiration of Senator Wadada come 2027” The Chairman said.
Present at the event was the Accountant General of Nasarawa State and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed, who came to encourage the Chairman and boost his confidence in supporting the Wadada 2027 project.
Rt. Hon. Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed commended the Chairman and the LGA for organizing what he described as a people-centered programme that directly impacts lives.
“This is the kind of grassroots development that aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for Nasarawa State. When you empower a woman, you empower a community. When you empower a youth, you secure the future” Dr Musa stated.
He charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and urged other LGAs to emulate the gesture.
Beneficiaries, who could not hide their joy, expressed gratitude to the Chairman, pledging to use the items to improve their living conditions and support their families.
The event ended with solidarity chants in support of Governor Abdullahi Sule and Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada 2027.
