Jos, Nigeria – The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, has commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the approval, award, and commencement of major road projects linking Lifidi–Piapung, Piapung–Baltep, and Garkawa–Lalin in Mikang Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the official handover of the project sites to contractors, Rt. Hon. Daniel noted that successive administrations had made repeated promises to construct the roads without success. He said Governor Mutfwang’s administration has now translated the long-standing aspirations of the people into reality.
The Speaker disclosed that he mobilised traditional rulers, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to engage the Governor on the urgent need for the road projects. According to him, the advocacy received prompt attention and strong political will from the Governor, leading to the approval and commencement of the projects.

He described the development as the fulfilment of both personal and collective aspirations of the people of Mikang LGA, stressing that beyond opening up rural communities, the roads would stimulate economic activities, improve access, enhance security, and strengthen confidence in democratic governance.
Rt. Hon. Daniel further noted that the successful execution of the projects would consolidate Governor Mutfwang’s political goodwill and acceptance in Mikang and across the southern zone of the state. He described the projects as a strong vote of confidence in the Governor’s leadership and development philosophy.
The Speaker assured the Governor of the unflinching support of the Plateau State House of Assembly, saying the legislature stands firmly with the executive in recognition of its commitment to equitable development, responsiveness to grassroots advocacy, and delivery of impactful projects to previously neglected communities.

In a statement by Philip Eplong, Press Secretary to the Speaker, the speaker added that the harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government would continue to serve as a stabilising force for governance and effective policy implementation in the state.
In what observers described as a clear political signal ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Speaker declared that the people of Mikang LGA are solidly aligned with Governor Mutfwang, assuring him of overwhelming grassroots support in recognition of his efforts to address long-neglected infrastructure challenges.
He also pledged that the House of Assembly would continue to appropriate funds and provide the necessary legislative backing to ensure the successful completion of the projects, expressing confidence that the roads would be constructed and commissioned during his tenure as Speaker.
In his remarks, Governor Caleb Mutfwang disclosed that the Lifidi–Piapung Road measures 16.2 kilometres, while the Piapung–Baltep Road spans over 13 kilometres, with an additional link road connecting Garkawa to Lalin.
The Governor described the projects as the first he personally initiated since assuming office, aside from inherited projects his administration has continued to execute to completion.

He emphasised that his administration would not compromise on quality and warned contractors against substandard work. He also directed community stakeholders to actively monitor the projects to ensure standards are maintained.
Governor Mutfwang further instructed that youths from the benefiting communities be engaged during the construction process to promote local participation and ownership.
He revealed that the projects were captured in the 2026 Budget following the proactive intervention of the Speaker, who facilitated their inclusion through a supplementary budget and subsequent appropriation by the House.
The road projects are being executed by Jodalsam Global Limited and Transparent Construction Limited, with the official handover of “Point Zero” conducted at the Lifidi–Piapung axis.
