The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate in Benue State, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, has called for renewed commitment to democratic values and accountable governance.

In his Democracy Day message, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice described June 12 as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey, symbolizing the triumph of the people’s mandate and the enduring determination of Nigerians in sustaining democratic governance.

He emphasized that democracy should not be viewed solely as the conduct of elections but as a system that delivers meaningful development through responsible leadership, transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to the rule of law.

According to him, the true success of democracy is reflected in the quality of life and opportunities available to citizens.

The former Attorney General of the Federation also expressed concern over the persistent challenges confronting Benue State, including insecurity, economic hardship, youth unemployment, and declining public trust in institutions.

He noted that addressing these issues requires visionary leadership, genuine commitment, and governance that prioritizes the needs and aspirations of the people.

Chief Aondoakaa further stated that Benue remains richly endowed with human and natural resources capable of driving sustainable growth and prosperity if managed through prudent, inclusive, and people-focused policies.

He particularly urged the people of Benue State to remain optimistic and actively participate in strengthening democratic institutions, expressing confidence that a better future can be achieved through collective effort and responsible governance.

Reaffirming his dedication to purposeful leadership, Chief Aondoakaa pledged to work towards restoring public confidence, strengthening institutions, stimulating economic growth, and ensuring the security and welfare of the people.

He also called on Benue citizens to continue supporting the PDP’s vision of building a united, peaceful, and prosperous state.

Chief Aondoakaa wished Nigerians a memorable Democracy Day celebration and prayed for enduring peace, unity, and continued progress in Benue State and across the nation.
