The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primaries held in Mikang Local Government Area of Plateau State to elect the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections have been declared inconclusive.
The APC Legal Adviser in Plateau State, Barr. Namyel S. Boayi, an indigene of Lalin Ward, alleged that elections failed to hold in several wards, including Tunkus, Koenem and other areas across the constituency.
Speaking after monitoring the exercise, Boayi claimed that voting did not take place in most wards due to the absence of electoral officials. He further alleged that election materials were taken away by some officials, including the Commissioner for Women Affairs.
According to him, he remained at the Lalin Ward voting venue from 10 a.m. until nearly 6 p.m., but the electoral officer failed to commence the exercise.
Boayi alleged that the process appeared manipulated to favour a particular aspirant.

He also stated that reports and evidence received from more than five wards indicated that no election was conducted in those areas.
According to him, Piapung Ward was the only ward where any form of voting reportedly took place in the entire local government.
He maintained that the party must conduct a fresh election in areas where voting did not hold to allow delegates exercise their democratic rights.
Boayi further alleged that some individuals compiled results without conducting proper elections and submitted them as official outcomes.
He called on the APC leadership and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to intervene by setting up a neutral committee to oversee a fresh process.
He warned that imposing candidates on the people could negatively affect the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
“Let the people be allowed to make their choice. It shouldn’t be the choice of a few persons,” he appealed.
