The Nasarawa State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the attacked on the their supporters who were protesting over the judgment of the Appeal Court allegedly by the Army.
Mrs. Stella Oboshi, Woman Leader of PDP in the state made the condemnation at a protest on Tuesday in Lafia.
According to the Woman Leader, they party had informed the appropriate authority about thier peaceful protest.
She added that the protest over the rigging of the governorship election in the state had been peaceful for the past six months.
The Woman Leader wandered why the army that was supposed to protect them would run into women who were protesting peacefully.
“The protesters were harmless and armless widows who were only out to express their displeasure over the Court of Appeal nullification of the tribunal judgement that declared David Ombugadu as winner of the March 18 governorship election.
“What the army did to women who were on peaceful protest is not just sad but uncalled for.
“The Army authority should not keep mute but sanction those who carried out that attack on the women,” she added.
The PDP women leader insisted that the Army attack and intimidation would not stop the women from carrying out their constitutional right of peaceful protest.
Also speaking at the protest, Adamu Davidson, convener of the protest said that what happened at the Appeal court is laughable and would not stand the test of time.
“We believed that this judgment falls short of real democratic principles that govern our nation, especially the principle of majority rule.
“It is disheartening to witness a decision that seems to shield the insincerity of INEC to prove their irregularities, thereby questioning the credibility of our electoral processes.
The convener therefore expressed confidence that PDP would reclaim thier mandate at the Supreme Court. (NAN).
