People’s Democratic Party PDP in Nasarawa State says it will remain steadfast, resolute and law abiding in seeking justice following the Appeal Court’s nullification of the Election Petition Tribunal judgment which declared the party’s candidate Dr David Ombagadu winner of the March 18 Governorship Election.
The State Women Leader of PDP Mrs. Stella Oboshi stated this during a peaceful protest against the Appeal Court Judgment in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital.
Since the Appeal Court Judgment in favour of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, upturning the verdict of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which declared Dr. David Ombagadu of the PDP winner of the election on the 23rd of October 2023, different groups have continued to embark on peaceful protests in the State capital against the verdict of the Appellate court.
Addressing journalists during the protest, Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Mrs. Stella Oboshi said the appeal court judgment fell short of addressing the main issues raised by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which nullified the election of Alhaji Abdullahi Sule and declared Dr David Ombagadu winner of the election.

She stated that they would continue to take advantage of the nation’s constitutional provisions of freedom of speech to draw attention of the judiciary and authorities to ensure justice as part of steps towards strengthening democracy and inclusion.
Chairman Nasarawa State PDP Concerned Group Mr. Henry Davidson who is the also convener of the protest appealed to the Supreme Court to take a holistic review of the issues in contention based on the hard evidence presented before it in the Governorship Election in Nasarawa to ensure that the actual winner was declared.
Mr. Davidson however called on the PDP supporters especially youths in the state to be peaceful, law abiding and continue to keep hope alive in the judiciary.

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had on the second of October 2023 in a split judgment of two to one, nullified the election of Alhaji Abdullahi Sule of the APC and declared David Ombagadu of the PDP winner of the March 18 2023 Governorship Election.
However, the Appeal Court in a unanimous judgement led by Justice Uchechukwu Onuemenam reversed the verdict of the Tribunal and upheld the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
