The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has sought for Civil Society Organizations’ (CSOs) partnership to foster credible local government elections come October 9.
In a parley with the CSOs leaders at the Commission’s Conference room in Jos, the PLASIEC Chairman Mr. Plangji Cishak highlighted the Commission’s efforts so far taken to ensure smooth local government elections. He said the commission and the CSOs are partners in progress hence, the need to work together.

The Plateau State election empire Chairman highlighted the successes recorded so far, such as improved infrastructure, development of a software, collaboration with plateau ICT Development Agency and tertiary institutions, among others.
Mr. Plangji said the commission is burden with trust deficit from the citizens as he called for confidence on the commission as it puts it’s best in ensuring a peaceful free and fair election.
Responding to the commission, the Plateau CSOs Forum Chairman, Rev. Christopher Damcher commended the commission for the efforts taken so far, as he called for continuous voter registration so as not to dis-infranchise young people that have reached the voting age. He assured the commission of CSOs support towards a successful local government elections.

Other CSOs leaders admonished PLASIEC to be strategic in ensuring that IDPs are protected to cast their votes, as they called on the Commission management team to write their names in gold by ensuring a free, fair and credible election.
