A group under the auspices of Arewa Development Support Initiative (ADSI) has paid the sum of five hundred and thirty nine thousand Naira as fine for four inmates to enable their Freedom.
State Coordinator, of the ADSI, Halima Ndanusa said when the group visited the Nigerian Correctional Service, Medium Security Custodian Center, Minna and the Juvenile Rehabilitation centre to present items and help to those who could not afford their fines.
According to her, “we are extending this gesture to empower and to give succour to the inmates in the centres.

“As a support group, after we visited the centre and the juvenile remand home, we were able to identify four inmates on the list of options of fine totalling N510,000 and compensation N29,000 and we have paid the sum of five hundred and thirty nine thousand in total.”
“We also donated items like slippers, we work together to make a positive difference in the lives of those in custody.”
While disclosing that the purpose of the visit was to present Humanitarian and essential items for onward distribution to the inmates, Ndanusa said “we are donating sewing machine to the juvenile remand home to enable the children acquire skills”.

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, Controller of Corrections, Niger State Command, CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo, represented by Rabiu Shuaibu assured that the items will be shared and used judiciously by the inmates.
The items donated include: 50 Mats, 50 Blankets, 8 Rubber buckets, 120 pieces of Petroleum jelly, 120 pieces of Bath Soap, 2 Cups for washer man.
Others are 96 bathroom Slippers,160 pieces of washing soap, 18 packs of sanitary pads, 120 pieces of toothpaste, 4 cartons of Detergent and 4 pieces of washing basin.
