Nasarawa Utd. Football Club (FC) on Sunday defeated Doma Utd. 2-0 in a Matchday 8th encounter of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The keenly contested game played at Lafia Township Stadium, home ground of the Solid Miners, saw them dominate possession from the blast of the whistle as they pressed for an early goal.
Nasarawa United opened scoring in the 10th minute through their striker Sunday Dopman.
Doma Utd. fought back in the second half, but the resolute defence of Solid Miners stopped them from scoring.
The visitors’ hope of a comeback was dashed in the 54th minute when Joefrank Joshua converted a penalty after a Nasarawa player was brought down by the defender of the visiting team in the 18-yard box and doubled the lead for the home side.
With this win, Nasarawa Utd. is now 11 position with 11 points while Doma Utd. are currently fifth on the league table with 13th points.
In a post-match interview, the Technical Adviser of Nasarawa Utd, Mbwas Mangut, commended his boys for their resilience and determination, saying the victory was important to boost the team’s position on the league table.
The Technical Adviser explained that this was a first major victory for his side this season and promised to work towards winning subsequent games to improve their fortune as the season continues.
On his part, Coach of Doma United, Daji Ayane said that the performances of his boys were below expectations, but accepted the result as part of football.
He further explained that the league is a marathon, adding that a club would lose some matches, draw some and win some, but said they would begin preparing to correct their errors in this game to work towards victory in subsequent games. (NAN).
