The 2027 gubernatorial ambitions of former Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, received a significant boost as a coalition of Christian leaders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared their spiritual and political support for his return to office.

The endorsement was announced during the inaugural prayer session of the National APC Christian Leaders Forum of Nigeria (NACLFON), Bauchi State Chapter, held in partnership with the Aisha M.A. Abubakar Progressive Support Coalition.

The event drew delegates, traditional rulers, and youth representatives from all 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

Apostle Daniel Yusuf Adamu, the State Coordinator of NACLFON, described the gathering as a prophetic movement aimed at injecting moral consciousness and accountability into governance.

“NACLFON is not merely a political support platform. It is a movement of Christian leaders determined to bring spiritual responsibility, moral consciousness, peaceful coexistence, and constructive participation into governance and nation building,” Adamu said.

He noted that politics without morality becomes oppression, and religion without responsibility becomes empty noise, stressing that the Church must engage in governance to promote righteousness, accountability, justice, and peace.

The coordinator reaffirmed his personal loyalty to the APC, saying he had remained supportive to the party for over 10 years.

“Loyalty is not tested during comfort. Loyalty is tested during difficult seasons,” he said, urging believers to stay, pray, organize, and reform rather than abandon the platform when challenges arise”

“We are not supporting leadership based on noise or propaganda. We are supporting competence, experience, and a proven capacity for peace and stability” he said.

After what he called careful consultations, observation, and sincere conviction,” Adamu announced NACLFON’s decision to identify with and pray for M.A Abubakar, SAN, ahead of 2027.

The forum cited Abubakar’s performance during his 2015–2019 tenure as the primary reason for their endorsement.

According to him, educational interventions under his administration moved from about 3.7% to nearly 40%, creating renewed opportunities for thousands of young people in Bauchi.

The former governor was also credited with investing nearly ₦1 billion in agricultural inputs to empower farmers, strengthen food production, and support rural communities.

In healthcare, his government facilitated the establishment and improvement of facilities across all 20 LGAs, bringing services closer to residents.

Beyond infrastructure, NACLFON praised Abubakar for what it called “calmness, maturity, balance, and respect for both Christians and Muslims alike,” arguing that he demonstrated a commitment to peaceful coexistence and unity in a diverse state.

The group praised the former governor’s  maturity and balance in treating both Christian and Muslim communities with equal respect.

Adamu urged Christians to remain committed to the party, noting that loyalty is tested during difficult seasons.

He emphasized that the Church must engage in politics to ensure justice and righteousness in leadership.

The forum paid tribute to NACLFON National Coordinator Prof. Abraham, Vice Chancellor of HBI University USA, and Zonal Coordinator Hon. Agnes for their role in building the platform nationally.

The session concluded with special prayers for the peace of Bauchi State and the North-East region, signaling an early but organized start to the 2027 political cycle in the state.
