The Nasarawa State Government has commenced the training of personnel on data collection, management and protection as part of efforts to ensure effective and result-driven implementation of the World Bank-assisted Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project in the state.
The State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John Mamman, made this known while declaring the training open in Akwanga Local Government Area. He called for collective participation and commitment by stakeholders to achieve zero out-of-school girl-child in Nasarawa State.
Dr. Mamman noted that the state government is committing significant resources to programmes aimed at increasing school enrolment among girls. He therefore called on stakeholders to continue supporting the initiative in their various communities to promote empowerment and provide opportunities for girls to realise their full potential.
In a welcome address, the State Project Coordinator of the AGILE Project, Hajiya Aisha Isoga, highlighted the importance of continuous capacity development in critical areas such as data collection and management to drive the implementation process.
She urged participants to embrace the principles of accountability, proper documentation and record-keeping, describing them as key hallmarks of the AGILE Project.
Also speaking, the Lead Facilitator, Dr. Aliyu Usman, explained that the training would expose participants to the ideals and technical processes involved in data collection, management and protection.
Some of the participants, including Mallam Ahmed Danliti and Mrs. Fatima Lawal, described the training as timely, noting that innovation and reliable data remain essential tools for the successful implementation of the AGILE Project.
Participants at the training include directors and heads of units from the Ministry of Education, the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and Local Government Councils. The programme is aimed at strengthening their capacity in the collection, management and protection of data required for the effective implementation of the AGILE Project. (Radio Nigeria)
