Alumni Urged to Invest in Education as a Pillar for National Development

A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Dr. Vincent Paul, has called on stakeholders to prioritize investment in education as a critical foundation for national growth and development.

Dr. Paul made the call while speaking at a meeting of the Nasarawa State University Keffi Alumni Association held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

Delivering a lecture titled “Securing the Future: Trust Funds as a Pillar for Alumni Legacy Through Finance, Entrepreneurial Activities, and Leadership Continuity,” Dr. Paul emphasized that education remains a vast sector filled with lifelong potential that requires collective action to thrive.

He highlighted the vital role of alumni and other key stakeholders in transforming the education sector through entrepreneurship, the establishment of trust funds, and strategic investments aimed at building infrastructure and human capital for self-reliance.

Dr. Paul also urged the government to strengthen engagement with organizations and private investors to direct resources toward education as part of their corporate social responsibility, thereby contributing meaningfully to community development.

He further encouraged alumni to see themselves as active partners in nation-building, contributing to the educational system not for personal recognition but to foster long-term institutional development.

In a remark, Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Head of Civil Service, Abigail Wayah reiterated the importance of quality education, stressing the need to ensure that graduates are not only employable but also equipped with skills for self-employment.

Also speaking, the National President of the Nasarawa State University Keffi Alumni Association, Mr. Nuhu John Egya, emphasized the need for a sustainable, long-term framework for educational development, with a focus on practical skills acquisition to meet the demands of the modern economy.( Radio Nigeria)
