Light Microfinance Bank to operate ATM, POS soon

Light Microfinance Bank had hinted that the bank is on the path to fully digitalize her operation as they plan to introduce Automated Teller Machine, ATM and Point Of Sale, POS, Machines soon.

Board Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Stephen Bathnna gave the indication during a retreat for the new board members and management of the bank in Jos, Plateau State capital recently.

He said the bank is on a steady growth and will soon go digital fully to enable the customers do transactions wherever they are just like any other commercial bank.

He said already the costumers are enjoying the bank App for Unstructured Supplementary Service Data, USSD for transfers and other transactions.

According to him, they are poised to providing professional service to their costumers, the kind of services that will make costumers that visit the bank for transaction to go back smiling for doing business with a professional bank.

He also disclosed that part of what they are doing is for the bank to meet her responsibility of assisting the vulnerable poor, in terms of economic and social development and also to make the bank profitable to pay dividends to shareholders.

Mr. Bathnna also hinted that the bank is not discriminating in her mood of employment as the handicap or physically challenged persons are also being accommodated.

Speaking on the retreat, the Board Chairman said is aimed at bringing the new board members and management of the bank to know their roles and responsibilities, know what the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN is expecting of them and to also have a strategic session to plan for the future of the bank.

Resource person at the retreat, Dr. Steve Ogidan who is the Lead Consultant of Successory Nigeria Limited, shared experiences with the bank on the way forward. He admitted that the bank is doing well and appreciated the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN for supporting the bank.

He noted that the bank has a lot of potential and there is need to grow the portfolio of the bank to enable them do better than what they are currently doing. He added that the operational environment is changing and the Microfinance sector is changing, so there is need to build the capacity of the board to position the bank to meet the challenges of the present time.

Dr. Steve also appealed to the church on the need for additional funding so that in the next Five years the bank should become a national bank.
