The African Democratic Congress said it has completed the screening of all aspirants for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly ahead of the party primaries in Nasarawa State
Mr Mike Abdul, Chairman of the Transitional Leadership Team in Nasarawa State, disclosed this to newsmen in Lafia at the party Secretariat.
According to him, he was briefed by the Acting Chairman, Mr Paul Magajin, on the success of the screening exercise.
He said that the screening committee confirmed that all aspirants who appeared before it were screened, their documents verified, and none had any issues.
“The committee is currently preparing its report for submission to the national headquarters,” Abdul stated.
He noted that with all aspirants cleared, the role of the appeal committee would be largely formal.
He expressed satisfaction with the smooth process, stating that the development shows the party is moving forward in an orderly manner as it prepares for the next phase of its electoral activities.
“I came to the secretariat in my capacity as the chairman of the Transitional Leadership Team in Nasarawa State to find out what is happening regarding the screening of our aspirants for the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly.
“Having heard that all our aspirants have been cleared without any problem, as the chairman of the Transitional Leadership Team, I’m happy. It means that we are moving forward, and we are moving forward together.
“We are supposed to have an appeal committee, but since all have been cleared, the appeal committee will only come here for a formality,” he said. (NAN)
