Former NOA DG emerges PDP Senatorial candidate for Nasarawa South

The former Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Mike Omeri, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Nasarawa South Senatorial District following a consensus reached by party members. 

Announcing his affirmation in Lafia, Mr Atsiya  Amehmara, the returning Officer for the Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone said Omeri emerged through consensus.

Amehmara commended the peaceful conduct of the PDP Primary in the Nasarawa South Senatorial District.

Accepting the nomination, Omeri described it as a mandate to work collectively for the progress and prosperity of the zone, and pledged to represent the people effectively at the National Assembly.

Omeri called for unity among all aspirants and supporters, stressing that both winners and those who stepped down are part of one team.

He called for the consolidation of support to address community needs and ensure that no individual or community is left behind in the drive for development and empowerment.

The former NOA DG enjoined the electorates and party supporters to remain peaceful and focused ahead of the general election, stating that the PDP has prepared to deliver credible representation.

 “I humbly accept the nomination by all the people of this zone to represent them, it shows that the people have agreed by way of consensus to work together to advance the fortunes and goodness of this area.

“I know what it means to work in the National Assembly—to represent, to deliver, and to take the views of the people to the nation and from the nation to the people. That is what I will do. It is a promise I will keep by the grace of God.

 “This is the time to prove that we can serve and to uplift our communities to the next level of progress and development. And we shall do it,” Omeri stated.

Speaking with newsmen on the party primaries,  Dr Joel Gimba, Nasarawa State PDP Chairman said that the Party has adopted consensus to choose candidates for various positions.

Gimba said the decision to adopt consensus reflects the PDP’s character as a united family where elders consult and resolve issues collectively.

He described the large turnout of supporters as a litmus test and an affirmation of PDP’s dominance in the area, stressing that even with multiple aspirants, the zone remains firmly under the party’s support base ahead of 2027. (NAN)
