Plateau: NEMA Presents Relief Materials to Flood Victims 

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has presented relief materials to 461 victims of flood disaster and vulnerable persons in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Delivering the relief materials recently at Angware, the Local government headquarters, representative of the Agency Mr. Akiode Saheed urged the victims to ensure judicious use of the items.

Mr. Saheed however, appealed to the people not to sell the materials but put them to use. He sympathized with the victims, saying disasters are natural therefore the people should take it in good fate and assured them of NEMA’s support. 

The Transition implementation committee chairman of Jos East Local Government Area, Mr. Markus Nyam Usaini who received the items on behalf of the victims, appreciated the agency for swiftly coming to the aid of the community in which are in dire need of the assistance.

The Transition chairman expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for considering the vulnerable in the society and called on the victims to make proper use of the items.  

The Director, Social Services of Jos East Local Government Council Mr. David Mancha commended NEMA for the intervention and pleaded for more assistance in view of the perennial flooding in the area.

Mancha however encouraged the people to show patriotism and support to the government of the day.

Items distributed included sowing machines, pumping machines, Sprayers, crops , foodstuff, Herbicides, liquid fertilizer amongst other materials.

The victims were full of gratitude and appreciated NEMA for rekindling their hopes and promised to make judicious use of the materials for the good of humanity.

Representative of the recipients Mrs. Tabitha Luka also appreciated the Plateau State Government and assured of their support and prayers.
