Breaking news: Plateau State NUJ Initiates 2023 Election Situation Room

Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),  has initiated Election Situation Room ahead of this Saturday Presidential and National Assembly elections as well as March 11, Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.  

The Situation Room which is situated at the NUJ State Secretariat, Hill Station Junction is set up to receive on the spot situation reports from journalists covering the elections in all parts of the state.

In statement by the Secretary of the council, Peter Amine, said the measure is also to enable journalists file in reports of harassment, maltreatment or intimidation while carrying out their duties.

“The Situation Room would be chaired by the Council Chairman, Paul Jatau and supported by the Council Vice Chairman, Ayuku Pwaspo, the Council Secretary, Peter Amine and all members of SEC. 

“The Situation Room would work in strong synergy, collaboration and understanding with relevant stakeholders, especially security agencies and INEC for effective coverage of election.” The statement added.

The Council urges colleagues to be conscious of their security wherever they might be covering the elections.
