The Plateau State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of the acting Director General of the Plateau State Healthcare Contributory Management Agency, Dr. Fabong Jemchang as substantive DG of the Agency.
During the Thursday plenary, Speaker of the Assembly, Yakubu Sanda notified the House on the Executive letter seeking the confirmation of the pioneer DG of the Agency as substantive.
Presenting the nominee for the screening, member representing Langtang North-North state Constituency where the nominee is coming from, Nanbol Listick, seek the house indulgence for the nominee to take a bow, considering his track record in the agency since inception in 2019.
He said the DG in an acting capacity has made an impact across all the 24 State Constituencies by enrolling people in both the formal and informal way as evidently proofed on their data during the House Committee on health oversight function to the agency.
Majority Leader of the House, Na’anlong Daniel affirmed the position of the Langtang North-North member best on the performance of the DG while as acting and urged the speaker to permit the nominee to take a bow.
The House unanimously confirmed the nomination of the acting Director General of the Agency, Dr. Fabong Jemchang as substantive DG as requested by the state Governor, Simon Lalong.
Responding to the press shortly after his confirmation, the DG, Dr. Fabong Jemchang while thanking the Governor for finding him worthy, also appreciated the House for the confirmation, saying it will spur him to consolidate on what they are doing.
He said the agency has enrolled over 150 thousand beneficiaries of the scheme and they have a target to cover more than half of the state population in few years time.
During the plenary, the House also received in audience Oromia regional state Parliament from Ethiopia who are in the Country and Plateau state for a working visit.
Speaker of the Oromia parliament, Se’ada Abdulrhaman led the team and they were received by the Plateau State parliament.
There were exchanged of gifts between the two Parliaments during the visit.
