Lafia, Nigeria – The Chief Executive Officer of Maikaya Foundation and a leading governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Dr Muhammad Maikaya, said he would prioritise human capital development if elected governor of Nasarawa State in the 2027 general election.
Maikaya stated this during a consultation visit to the Tiv Renewed Hope Grassroots Mobilisation Movement in Nasarawa State in Lafia.
According to him, creating an enabling and right environment for every human being to thrive is pivotal to his aspiration to govern Nasarawa state to bring real change to the people of the state.
“We are doing our best, we have tried to touch every part, to add value as much as possible, wherever we find ourselves, particularly to our people of Nasarawa state
“Just yesterday, we gave scholarships to 730 students in a tertiary institution, which is something we’ve been doing over the years. Last year, 2025, we gave 600 people.
In 2024, we gave over 350 people, he said.
He expressed appreciation to the group for identifying with him and honouring him with a title as ‘Hundagar U Tiv Renewed Hope, which literally means the ‘Entrance Gate of Tiv Ethnic Group’.
Maikaya urged the group to support the Government and work for the development of Nasarawa state, noting that the state belongs to everybody.
He applauded Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration development efforts, particularly in the area of security, which brought about relative peace being enjoyed in the state.
“Before I go further, I want to thank Gov. Sule, Nasarawa state today is the most peaceful state in the north-central part of Nigeria. So for Tiv people, this Nasarawa state is a home for all of us. It’s a duty on all of us to develop the state.
“The good things this government is doing are visible, it is as if they’re just starting the administration because it doesn’t look like the government that wants to finish or wind up.
“Nasarawa State is on the high-speed lane; he needs somebody who understands that speed to take the steering from him and move us higher. That is why I’m out here. I have the experience locally and internationally,” he said.
Earlier speaking, Mr Solomon Chunku, Chairman, Tiv Renewed Hope Grassroot Mobilisation Movement, said the group was convinced to identify with Maikaya in his quest for governorship because of his track record of excellence and selfless service.
” I wish to formally introduce to you the Tiv Renewed Hope Grassroots Mobilisation Movement, fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. We are a structured political organisation with deep roots across all 13 local Government Areas.
“As you prepare to lead this state, we ask for inclusion. We seek to be fully integrated into your programs and vision. We are not just supporters, we are partners in progress,” Chunku said.
Earlier, Maikaya, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Maikaya Development Foundation, met with the leadership of the Market Bureau and the Lafia modern market, where he announced the plan to install solar power lights in the market to add value to security.
Responding, Mr Yakubu Ubangari, Director General, Market Bureau, represented by Mr Abubakar Wambai, Director of Operations, thanked the Chief Executive Officer of Maikaya Foundation for the solar initiative in the market and pledged to support him. (NAN)
