Nasarawa State Government has advised critics to channel their energy toward meaningful venture and refrain from ridiculing genuine efforts of Gov. Abdullahi Sule toward infrastructural development in the state.
Mr Ibrahim Angbolo, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism gave the advice while reacting to critics over the construction of flyover and underpass by Gov. Sule.
It will be recalled that recently critics of Gov. Abdullahi Sule took to social media to criticize the construction of flyover and underpass in Lafia, the state capital.
Information Commissioner said the project was not an after thought of the present administration but a well thought out plan and response to the yearning of the citizens to ease flow of traffic in the state capital.
The commissioner said the administration’s decision to build the underpass and flyover was primarily motivated by the pressing need to enhance traffic flow and alleviate congestion at the intersection.
Angbolo added the project aims to bolster safety on the roads by mitigating the risks associated with conflicting streams of traffics.
“The initiative, set to be a game-changer for commuters and residents alike, comes as a response to the growing challenges posed by burgeoning traffic congestion and safety concerns around Total and Mobil junction; and also the Roundabout.
“By separating intersecting roads and level of traffics, the new infrastructure is expected to streamline vehicular movement, significantly reducing travel times and improving overall transportation efficiency.
“With vehicles seamlessly navigating over or under existing roads, the likelihood of accidents is poised to decrease, ensuring a safer commuting experience for all road users,” he said.
He explained that beyond its traffic management benefits, the underpass and flyover expected to foster efficient movement of goods and people within the city by providing uninterrupted routes for vehicles.
“The infrastructure will enhance connectivity between different parts of Lafia, creating direct pathways that bypass traffic lights and stop signs.
“Improved access to various areas of the town along with the subsequent rise in property values, is anticipated to spur economic growth and enhance the overall livability of Lafia, ” he said.
Commissioner while emphasizing the significance of aesthetics and environmental considerations, said the project would incorporate landscaping, public art, and architectural features to enhance the city’s visual appeal.
“As the city prepares for this transformative endeavour residents can look forward to a more efficient, safer, and aesthetically pleasing transportation network that will shape the future of Lafia’s urban landscape.(NAN)
