Acting Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University Bokkos, Professor Shedrack Best, has announced that the Institution has entered into a historic partnership with Africa Arise International, a faith-based American organisation to secure the University from external attack.
According to him, this is aimed at ensuring a more secure institution that is not threatened by attacks from underneath and other forms of insecurity.
This was made known by the Vice Chancellor during a visit to his office by the founder of the organization, Mayor Mike Arnold, where he expressed his determination not to be distracted by recent attacks on the university community by the men of the underworld.
The Acting Vice Chancellor expressed his disappointment in the sensational news circulating on social media, which he stated does not reflect the Plateau Spirit of love, hospitality, and peace. He appealed to the public to always verify the sources of information before spreading it.
The vice chancellor identified the need for the fencing of the institution and the construction of more hostels to address the housing deficit, which exposes students to dangers of attacks.

In response, Mayor Arnold expressed readiness to support the institution based on areas of need.
Also present during the meeting was renowned international gospel singer, Panan Percy Paul, who led those present into a worship mode.
Contributing, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Reverend Sister Josephine Marie, prayed for the growth of PLASU and the country as a whole.
Some of the major issues highlighted were the need to support the school library with additional educational materials such as books and other learning and teaching materials.
After the interactive session, the Acting Vice Chancellor took the visitors to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, where he showed them the broken fence that herders often use to gain entrance to the university. He emphasized the need for a secure environment that would enable the institution to focus on its core mandate of providing quality education to its students.
