State University Seeks Police Station to Secure Institution

Acting Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University Bokkos, Prof. Shedrack Best

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University, Professor Shedrack Best, has sought the partnership with Police to establish a Police Station in the University in order to guaranty security of the Institution.

The Acting Vice Chancellor stated this when he received in his office, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Hassan Steve Yabanet where he reiterated his priority on securing the university.

Prof. Best added that, siting a Police division within the university community will boost confidence staff, students and the general public as he informed the CP how Students of the Institution were occasionally attacked by people coming from outside because the campuses are not fenced.

He assured of his administration’s commitment to enhancing robust security architecture to safeguard lives and property of staff and students of the university.

The visit of the Plateau state Commissioner of Police, Hassan Steve Yabanet, according Professor Shedrack Best will further cement the existing relationship between the university and the Plateau state police command. 

Professor Shedrack Best said the security of the university and the surrounding environment of Bokkos needs not to be compromised and solicited for more reinforcement to the division.

On his part, the Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Hassan Steve Yabanet said, the working visit to Plateau State University in Bokkos is to further entrench the inspector General of police’s recent initiative on safer school environment. He hinted that the command is set to deploy more personnel to the university community.

The Commissioner of Police emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Police and the University in ensuring peace and security on campus. 

He also promised to provide support to the University in terms of personnel, logistics, and information sharing to aid in their efforts of maintaining a safe and secure environment.

The visit was considered a step towards deepening the relationship between the Police and the University in order to enhance security on campus.

The police commissioner was received on arrival by the Chief Security Officer of the University, Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Danladi Mashat.
