Plateau Monarch wants more Police Outposts in locality

The Paramount Chief of Afizere Nation, Reverend Dr. Isaac Azi Wakili, has made a case for the establishment of more Police outposts in Jos East Local Government Area to tackle the lingering security challenges in the locality.

The Royal father who made the appeal while playing host to the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, C.P Okoro Julius Alaware in his Palace at Shere, pointed out that some hard to reach areas such as Fursum, Federe and Nakwang are in dire need of Police and  Army presence to checkmate the incessant cases of kidnapping and banditry bedeviling the area.

Information Officer of Jos East local government, Magit, Yusufu Haruna noted that the traditional ruler commended effort of the Divisional Police Officer and other Security Chiefs in the locality for living above board in reducing to the barest minimum, security threads in the area.

He called on the Commissioner of Police to alert the Inspector General of Police to increase the number of Police recruitment to cover the inadequate number of personnel in most parts of the country. 

Earlier, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro Alaware revealed that his mission is to familiarize himself with the entire Police formations across the State.

He called on the communities to cooperate with Security personnel to enable them carry out their routine functions of securing lives and properties.

CP Alaware, while responding to issues raised at the event, pledged to look into the possibility of deploying more Police Personnel to the  area.

He also promised to influence the consideration of some none conventional security during future recruitments to pave way for a robust security architecture as well as effort to return Plateau State to its status of home of peace and Tourism.

Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Jos East Local Government,  Markus Useini Nyam, pointed out that the fragile peace Jos was known for since time immemorial has been broken by hoodlums who use hilly terrains as hide out.

He appreciated the combine effort of the security personnel in the area as well as the neighboring Toro local government area of Bauchi State which mitigated the situation.

Present at the visit were Stakeholders cutting across political parties including Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication,  Musa Ashoms, Member, representing Jos East Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Isah Madaki, Two former Speakers of the Plateau State House of Assembly,  Abok Nuhu Ayuba and  Joshua Madaki, among others.
