A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Plateau South Senatorial aspirant, Chief Dr. Nanzing Nangil Nden, has felicitated with Nigerians as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
In his Independence Day message to Nigerians on Thursday, Nden extended his warmest greetings to the people of Plateau State and Nigerians across the nation, describing October 1 as a day for reflection and renewed hope.
He said the anniversary should not only be a celebration of independence but also a moment to remember the sacrifices of nationalists who fought for Nigeria’s freedom.
“We remember the men and women who contributed to the struggle for our independence and those who, through their sacrifices, courage, service and commitment, helped shape the Nigeria we know today. Many of those we proudly call our heroes today were once young people who believed that their generation could make a difference,” He stated.
Chief Namzing Nden, the Dan-Madamin Langtang and one time aspirant to represent Plateau South Senatorial District, challenged Nigerian youths, particularly those in Plateau State, to emulate the founding fathers, stressing that age should never be an excuse for inaction.
According to him, the responsibility of nation-building now rests on the current generation, urging youths to discover purpose, embrace hard work and contribute meaningfully to society.
“To the youths of Plateau State, our future is not something we should simply wait for, it is something we must actively participate in building. Let us rise above discouragement, division, fear and hopelessness,” He added.
He called on young Nigerians to leverage education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, technology and innovation to create opportunities rather than waiting endlessly for white-collar jobs.
The senatorial aspirant further noted that nation building is not the sole responsibility of politicians, pointing out that every citizen has a role to play.
“A student who takes education seriously, a farmer who feeds the community, an entrepreneur who creates employment, a teacher who shapes young minds, a professional who works with integrity, and a young person who chooses peace over violence are all contributing to the Nigeria we hope to build,” Nanzing posited.
Nden prayed for peace, stability and prosperity in the country, urging Nigerians to celebrate with responsibility and patriotism.
“Let us celebrate today with gratitude, but let us also celebrate with responsibility. Our independence should remind us that freedom comes with duties.
“Happy 66th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria! May God bless our youths, may God bless Plateau State and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “Dr Nanzing concluded.
