His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, CON, the Emir of Keffi, has today officially inaugurated the Zakkat and Waqf Committee for the Keffi Emirate, as part of efforts to strengthen Islamic social welfare, promote responsible wealth distribution, and provide meaningful support to vulnerable members of the community.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, on Sunday His Royal Highness explained that the establishment of the Committee became necessary in view of the prevailing socio-economic challenges and hardships being experienced by many members of the community.
He emphasized the important role of Zakkat and Waqf in alleviating poverty, supporting the less privileged, and promoting social justice within society.
The Emir reminded members of the gathering that Zakkat is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam, and that its proper collection and distribution can make a significant difference in the lives of people facing economic difficulties.
The monarch therefore stressed the need for the institution to be managed with sincerity, accountability, fairness, and strict adherence to Islamic principles.
Dr Shehu Chindo Yamusa 111 charged members of the newly inaugurated Committee to discharge their responsibilities with fear of Allah, transparency, honesty, dedication, and commitment.Urged them to ensure that Zakkat and Waqf resources are handled responsibly and distributed to the rightful beneficiaries without discrimination or favouritism.
The Emir further issued a strong warning that any member of the Committee found guilty of mismanagement, diversion, abuse of office, or any other form of misconduct would face appropriate legal action and full prosecution in accordance with the law.
He called on individuals, business owners, organizations, and other members of the Keffi Emirate to support the initiative and contribute towards strengthening the Zakkat and Waqf system for the benefit of the community.
The inauguration ceremony ended on a highly encouraging note, with a total sum of ₦23,500,000.00 (Twenty-Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) realized during the ceremony in support of the Zakkat and Waqf initiative.
