A coalition of 72 organizations, including civil society groups and political pressure units, has formally declared its support for Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The groups announced their loyalty during a massive solidarity rally organized by the Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguard (BAMV) led by the Director General /National Leaders of the group under the leadership Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Jibo.

Recall that Governor Bala Mohammed officially announced his defection from the PDP to the APM on Saturday, May 2, 2026, citing unresolved internal crises within the PDP following a Supreme Court ruling on the party’s leadership.

The event served as both a political endorsement and the official inauguration of a committee tasked with mobilizing voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the rally, BAMV Director General Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Jibo described the Governor’s exit from the PDP as a “meticulous re-alignment” driven by patriotism and a desire for sustainable development.

“This decision was not taken haphazardly, but after wide consultation and careful assessment. We solidly align with Governor Bala Mohammed’s shift to the APM and believe in his ability to lead us to victory in 2027”

“It is important to state at this juncture that the decision of His Excellency to take the bull by the horn was borne out of patriotism, sincerity and honesty of purpose as well as his political dexterity and desire for continued effective governance and sustainable development of Bauchi State beyond 2027.”

“Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has come, has seen and has conquered. He is indeed a leader not a ruler; he is a giver not a taker; he is an achiever and not a destroyer. He is a true democrat not a dictator. His kindness and generosity seems to have surpassed even the most optimistic of my estimation. Indeed, the likes of Governor Bala Mohammed are the Sardaunas, Tafawa Balewas, the Awolowos, the Aminu Kanos and other nationalities of the olden days.”

“Let me also say without any equivocation that the successes and achievements recorded by the Kauran Bauchi led administration in the last Seven years across all the Twenty LGAs in Bauchi State are immeasurable, unquantifiable and inexplicable. This is another way of saying that the achievements of this administration in the last Seven years alone is greater than those recorded by successive administrations in Forty – three years put together” he said.

The coalition praised the Governor’s seven-year track record, claiming his administration’s achievements across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas outweigh those of the previous four decades combined.

While re-affirming total support and solidarity to Bala Mohammed as he embarks on a new political journey under the platform of Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), BAMV declared the collective resolve to embark on a full scale sensitization tour of all the nooks and crannies of Bauchi State to enlighten the electorates on why the Governor took the difficult but necessary decision in the overall interest of the generality of the people of Bauchi State and the need to reciprocate the Governor’s selfless and meritorious service to the State by rallying round him to enable him take the State nto the promised land.

Speakers at the event likened his leadership style to that of late Nigerian icons such as Sir Ahmadu Bello and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

To solidify the transition, the BAMV inaugurated a State Executive Council during the rally.

This body is mandated to conduct a state-wide sensitization tour to “enlighten the electorates” on the necessity of the Governor’s move and to drum up support for all APM candidates in the upcoming election cycle.

The defection marks a significant shift in the North-East political landscape, as the Governor officially begins his political journey under the APM banner.
