…as Senator Adamu endorses Wadada’s governorship bid
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called on APC stakeholders in the state to work for the victory of the party’s candidates in 2027, from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to candidates for the governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly.
Governor Sule spoke on Tuesday at an APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, Lafia.
The meeting, convened by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, first civilian governor of the state and former APC National Chairman, brought together the party’s state working committee, aspirants, candidates, local government chairmen, ambassadors and other stakeholders, aimed at reconciling members aggrieved by the outcome of the party’s recent primaries.
Governor Sule told the gathering that President Tinubu had asked APC governors to deliver their states for the party at every level. He warned against a situation where voters support the President but withhold their votes from other APC candidates on the ballot.
The Governor said anyone who supported the President must also support the party as a whole, including Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, whom he endorsed as the party’s governorship candidate.
He said the endorsement followed consultations and was based on his commitment to rotational governorship, under which the governorship seat is due to return to the Keffi zone.
Governor Sule recalled that as part of the activities leading to the party’s 2026 primaries, aspirants from the Keffi zone were unable to agree on a single consensus candidate and mandated him to make the final choice.
He showed appreciation to the members of the party who had returned to the APC since the primaries and said efforts to reach out to others would continue.
The Governor also said monthly federal allocations to the state had risen from about ₦13 billion to over ₦15 billion, and cited this as a sign of improved state finances ahead of the 2027 election.
Senator Adamu, who had spearheaded the campaign for Nasarawa West turn to clinch the governorship ticket, endorsed Senator Wadada’s candidacy at the meeting.
He described the coming election as one of the most important in the state’s political history and urged stakeholders to set aside personal grievances to support the party’s candidates.
Senator Adamu cautioned against arrogance among officeholders.
Responding, Senator Wadada thanked Senator Adamu for agitating for the governorship ticket to return to Nasarawa West, while also appreciating Governor Sule for endorsing his guber aspiration.
He described the endorsement as a trust he would continue to work to justify.
Senator Wadada apologised to APC members and the public for any offence caused during the primaries and called for a campaign based on the achievements of the Governor Sule administration and the Tinubu-led federal government, in support of the party’s candidates from the Presidency to the National and State Assemblies.
The state APC Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, welcomed stakeholders to the meeting.
He acknowledged that some members of the APC had left the party after the primaries while others had joined from opposition parties.
Dr Faisal Shuaib, who spoke on behalf of governorship aspirants and stakeholders from Nasarawa West, said he and his fellow aspirants would support Senator Wadada and the entire APC ticket.
He called for continued outreach to members yet to return to the party.
Chief Silas Ali Agara, former deputy governor of the state and Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), commended the achievements of the Governor Sule administration, urging stakeholders to support the party’s candidates to sustain the state’s development.
