The Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has declared that the party is united and solidly behind the leadership of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and Abdulrahman Mohamed, National Chairman of the PDP.
Dr Joel Gimba, State Chairman, David Ombugadu, gubernatorial candidate of the party and Francis Orogu, North-Central Vice Chairman stated this during an expanded meeting of the party on Thursday in Lafia.
The State Chairman said that the recent insinuations of division within the party in the state were false and aimed at distracting members ahead of upcoming political activities.
“Let it be clear to everyone: Nasarawa PDP is united, focused, and standing firmly behind the leadership direction provided by His Excellency, Nyesom Wike and Mohamed,” he said.
According to him, all structures of the party in the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State have resolved to work together to reposition the PDP for victory in the 2027 elections.
The Nasarawa PDP Chairman also announced that the party has set up a reconciliation committee in the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
He noted that the main objective of the committees was to reconcile aggrieved members who were dissatisfied with certain decisions or outcomes of the primaries.
He explained that the various committees have one week to conclude their assignments and submit reports to the party for onward action.
He therefore appealed to those aggrieved to prioritise the interest of the party and join hands to ensure that the party reclaim the state in 2027.
Similarly, Ombugadu, the gubernatorial candidate of the party explained that the stakeholders have put aside their differences to deliver all members of the National Assembly, members of the 24 state constituencies and the governor in the state in 2027.
“Our leaders, stakeholders, and members are all aligned. The business now is to rebuild, reconcile, and win back the state in 2027,” Ombugadu added.
Ombugadu promised to transform the state, prioritise security and ensure that urban centres as well as rural communities have infrastructure that would ensure a better life for the people.
On his part, Francis Orogu, North-Central Vice Chairman of the party urged party members to disregard rumours of factionalization on social media, describing them as the handiwork of political opponents.
He called on PDP members to remain loyal, mobilise at the grassroots, and prepare for general elections.
Party members at the meeting including the seven serving House of Assembly members of the party applauded the leadership and pledged support to ensure that the party reclaim the state in 2027. (NAN).
