The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects following a midnight house break-in and armed robbery in Gadau Town, where a couple was tied up and robbed of cash and property worth ₦4 million.
The breakthrough came after a weeks-long intelligence investigation triggered by a formal complaint on July 3, 2026.
According to police reports, a 28-year-old resident reported that a five-man gang armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons breached his home on June 8, 2026, at around 3:00 AM.
The armed intruders forced their way into the couple’s bedroom, threatened them with cutlasses, and bound them before ransacking the house.
The stolen items included a Jincheng motorcycle, five Android smartphones, ten sets of wrappers, three wristwatches, a cap, and ₦1 million in cash.
Following the report, police detectives launched a targeted investigation that led to the arrest of Salisu Umar, 20, a resident of Gadau Town, and Sadiq Shehu, 20, from Azare in the Katagum Local Government Area.
During a police identification parade, the victim’s wife identified Shehu as one of the robbers who entered her room and forced her to unlock the main gate for the rest of the gang.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the Divisional Police Officer and the investigating team for their diligence.
He has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further discreet investigation.
CP Aliyu assured the public that operations are underway to track down the remaining three fleeing suspects.
He urged residents to stay vigilant and continue sharing actionable information with law enforcement to help curb criminal activities in the state.
