The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from claims that Emmanuel Agbo is the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, describing such assertions as false and misleading.

In a statement signed by the State Secretary of the party, Comrade Dan Nyikwagh, the PDP said Agbo has never been nominated or recognized as its governorship candidate for the forthcoming elections.

The party alleged that publications, videos, and public statements presenting Agbo as its candidate were attempts to mislead the public and create confusion within the political space in Benue State.

According to the statement, the PDP has officially recognized former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The party said the decision emerged through what it described as a transparent consensus process involving party leaders, stakeholders, and members, and added that the process was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The PDP stated that Aondoakaa’s emergence reflects the collective will of the party and has received broad support across the state and beyond.

The party also warned against actions it said could undermine its unity and progress, revealing that it has initiated constitutional and legal measures to address what it termed impersonation and the spread of false information.

It called on residents of Benue State, media organizations, security agencies, and the general public to verify political information through official party channels and disregard claims portraying Emmanuel Agbo as the PDP governorship candidate.

The statement reiterated the party’s commitment to remaining united and focused ahead of the 2027 elections under the leadership and candidacy of Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN.
