Nasarawa APC Governorship Candidate Loses Campaign Chairman, Prof. Silas Gyar

The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, has suffered a major loss following the death of the Chairman of his Campaign Council, Professor Silas Gyar.

Prof. Gyar reportedly passed away on Tuesday evening at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi, after battling health challenges for some time. Until his death, he served as the chairman of Senator Wadada’s campaign organization and was widely respected within academic and political circles.

The news of his passing was received with shock and grief by Senator Wadada, who described the late professor as a distinguished scholar, accomplished leader, and a man of uncommon intellect and commitment.

In a condolence statement personally signed by the APC governorship candidate, Senator Wadada expressed deep sorrow over the loss, extending his sympathies to the Gyar family, the Mada Nation, the people of Kokona Local Government Area, and the entire Nasarawa State.

“It is with profound shock and deep sorrow that I received the news of the passing of the Chairman of my Campaign Council, Prof. Silas D. Gyar, who departed this evening,” the statement read.

“On behalf of myself and the entire Wadada Political Family, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Gyar family, the people of the Mada Nation, the good people of Kokona Local Government Area, and all who are grieving this painful loss.”

Senator Wadada noted that Prof. Gyar’s steadfast support, wise counsel, and invaluable contributions to their shared political vision would remain deeply cherished and never be forgotten.

He further assured the bereaved family and associates of the late professor of his prayers and support during the difficult period, praying that God grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort all those affected by the loss.

The senator described the late academic as a beloved mentor and respected figure within the university community, whose impact on higher education and institutional development in Nasarawa State was significant.

Beyond academia, Prof. Gyar was known for his advocacy for grassroots development and his commitment to uplifting ordinary citizens through public service and political engagement. His role as chairman of Senator Wadada’s Campaign Council was widely regarded as instrumental to the campaign’s activities across the state.
