In continuation of his statewide tour begining from Nasarawa Southern Senatorial Zone, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has assured that he will improve and promote traditional institutions and the rulers if elected governor.
He made the vow at the palace of the Zhe Migili, Dr. Ayuba Agwadu (JP), on Monday.
Senator Wadada explained that his visit was not for campaigning but to appreciate the people, and to meet with traditional rulers and stakeholders to help him thank Governor Abdullahi Sule for deeming it fit to anoint him as his preferred aspirant for the APC primary and, subsequently, as the candidate for the general election.
He said: “Traditional rulers play significant roles in shaping any administration. As such, any leader who ignores the role played by traditional rulers is a leader headed for doom.
“There is no gainsaying that, as someone thoroughly bred in the palace, I have great respect for traditional rulers. If I become governor, I will put smiles on the faces of our traditional rulers.”He assured .
Excited by the visit, Dr. Ayuba Agwadu, the Zhe Migili, called for peace and unity and prayed that God in His grace would grant Senator Wadada’s prayers. He urged him to prioritize good governance and love for humanity.
In a letter, the community requested that the deputy governorship slot be given to one of the sons of the Migili-speaking tribe.
At Dadere Development Area of Obi LGA, the Overseer, Alhaji Jibrin Shuaibu, assured the governorship aspirant of unwavering support, saying Dadere has never lost an election and has always delivered APC at all elective positions.
In a show of hospitality, the Sangari of Dadere, Alhaji Saidu Balarabe, said the visit indicates that Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu’s ambition is people-oriented and full of respect for traditional institutions. “It is on this premise that I am blessing this course. I urge you to ensure peace and unity while you engage with the people in order to achieve the purpose for which you are pursuing,” he added.
Addressing a meeting of critical stakeholders, Senator Wadada de-emphasized tribalism despite the diverse ethnic backgrounds in the state.
According to him, only leaders with limited knowledge of leadership enjoy leading sectionally and magnifying ethnicity and sectional bigotry.
“Standing before you today, I want to announce to you that I have served, I am still serving, and I shall lead and add value to what Engineer Abdullahi Sule, our governor, and Dr. Akabe have done,” he said.
Senator Ahmed Wadada sued for peace and unity among citizens of the state, urging them to shun violence and politics of bitterness.
The APC governorship hopeful also distributed motorcycles and made a cash donation of Ten Million Naira.
In an interview at Keana, when Senator Wadada’s campaign train paid a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Highness, the Osana of Keana, Alhaji Abdullahi Amegwa Agbo III, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Musa—one of the aspirants who stepped down in respect for the governor’s decision—called on citizens of the state to lend their full support to the governor’s choice of Senator Wadada as his preferred aspirant for the APC primary election.
He added that he is optimistic that APC will not only conduct a successful primary but will emerge victorious with Senator Wadada as the next governor of Nasarawa State.
