2027: Sen. Wadada cautions against unguided utterances, pledges issues-based campaign

Sen. Ahmed Aliyu-Wadada (APC, Nasarawa West), has urged his supporters to shun unguided utterances and divisive sentiments as political activities build up ahead of the forthcoming party primaries.

The Senator made the call at a press conference on Sunday in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

It could be recalled that Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State had on April 16 announced Wadada as his preferred successor and urged his supporters as well as the leaders of the party to support him to fly the flag of the party in 2027.

He explained that nobody especially his supporters should attack his co-contestants or their supporters or leaders of the state physically or in the media as well as on social media because of differences in interest.

He noted that the next election cycle must be defined by ideas, not insults and they must rise above primordial sentiments.

“I appeal to all my supporters, across Nasarawa State, to avoid unguided utterances that heat the polity, we should not campaign based on religion, ethnicity, or personal attacks. Let us discuss policies, competence, and the future of our state.”

“The state had made progress under all the four previous governors, Abdullahi Adamu, Aliyu Akwai-Doma, Umaru Al-Makura and his successor Gov. Sule and that continuity of good governance would require maturity from political actors,” he added.

The senator pledged that his own campaign, whenever declared, would focus on his legislative records, economic blueprint for the state, youth employment, agriculture, and security.

Wadada commended Governor Sule for steadying the ship and reiterated his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party must present a united front in 2027.

He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the media, particularly the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), to help set the tone for peaceful electioneering.

The Senator therefore, called on all stakeholders, party leaders, aspirants, supporters, and citizens to come together in unity and place the interest of the state above any sentiments. (NAN).
