ECWA Celebrates Release of Kidnapped Cleric, Raises Alarm Over Insecurity

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has announced the safe release of its abducted cleric, Rev. Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, expressing gratitude to God and members of the church for their prayers.

In a press statement issued by Mr. Danjuma Dickson Auta, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Church on Friday, confirmed that Rev. Agang, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen, has regained his freedom and is currently safe.

The church described his release as a testimony of God’s faithfulness and the power of collective prayers offered by the ECWA family and the global Christian community.

“We thank God Almighty for answering the fervent prayers of the entire ECWA family and the global Church of Christ. This release is a testament to God’s faithfulness,” the statement read.

ECWA also appreciated members and well-wishers who stood in solidarity with the church during what it described as a difficult and trying period.

However, while celebrating the cleric’s freedom, the church expressed concern over the growing insecurity in Nigeria, particularly the increasing cases of kidnapping.

It noted that the trend, which has become a means of livelihood for some criminal elements, poses a serious threat to national peace and stability.

The church called on governments at all levels to take urgent and decisive action to tackle insecurity, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains a fundamental constitutional responsibility.

ECWA urged security agencies to intensify efforts in dismantling criminal networks responsible for such acts and restoring peace across the country.

The statement concluded with prayers for the peace of Nigeria and the safety of all citizens.
