The Plateau State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Solomon Nandy Chendan, has called for the party’s presidential ticket to be zoned to the southern region of Nigeria in the interest of equity and fairness.
Chendan made the call during a strategic meeting with former Rivers State governor and ADC presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi, in Abuja.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the Plateau ADC governorship hopeful, who is also a security expert, said the discussion focused on key issues affecting the country, particularly the need for inclusiveness in the party’s leadership structure.

According to him, zoning the party’s presidential ticket to the South would promote fairness and strengthen national unity.
“I had the honour of meeting with Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, a stalwart of Nigerian politics, to discuss critical issues shaping our nation’s future. A key point of discussion was the zoning of the ADC presidential ticket,” Chendan said.

He stressed that the move would help build a more inclusive Nigeria, noting that zoning the ticket to the South is not only about regional balance but also about equality, justice, and fairness.
“The South has contributed significantly to Nigeria’s growth and development. It is time we recognise these contributions and provide an opportunity for leadership,” he added.
Chendan further noted that he presented his position to Amaechi, expressing confidence that such a decision would strengthen the ADC and contribute to building a more representative and prosperous Nigeria.
