Nasarawa Govt. to toll 65 km Kwandere/Garaku Road when completed

The Nasarawa State Government says it would toll the 65 kilometres Kwandere/Garaku Road when completed to ensure proper maintenance.

Mu’azu Gosho, Commissioner for Works and Transportation, stated this on Monday in Lafia during a ministerial briefing organised by Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, to enable government officials to showcase their achievements.

According to him, the toll which would be implemented once the road is completed is to ensure proper maintenance of the road.

“The Gov. Abdullahi Sule-led administration has prioritised completing projects started by the previous administrations, including the Kwandere-Garaku Road.

The government plans to utilise the over N9 billion refunded by the federal government for the Lafia Cargo Airport to complete the Kwandere/Garaku road project.

The Commissioner said that the toll revenue would be used to maintain the road and ensure its longevity.

He explained that the road would shorten the journey from Lafia to Keffi by more than 50 kilometres.

“Because of the shortcuts from those travelling to Keffi and Abuja, heavy-duty vehicles would be following the road.

“So, we will toll the road when completed to enable us to maintain it regularly,” Gosho added.

The Commissioner stated that the projects would open up so many communities to markets in Lafia, Garaku and Keffi.

The works commissioner also said that they will install street lights in the Lafia flyover and underpass very soon to ensure that criminals do not take advantage of the darkness in the area.

On his part, the Commissioner for Information said that the governor had done a whole lot of work in every sector to better the well-being and welfare of the people as well as the infrastructure in the state.

The information commissioner explained that his ministry had created a lot of avenues, including the ministerial briefing, to enlighten, educate and inform the public about the policies, programmes and projects embarked on by the state government.

He added that the state is one of the most peaceful in the country due to the proactive measures by the governor.

Tanko further said that the state government is working to invest in some of the tourist sites in the state and attract investors to generate employment and boost the economy of the state. (NAN).
