Admission Scam: FULafia alerts the public on fake sales of postgraduate forms

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has called on members of the public to disregard the Facebook account for the sales of postgraduate forms of the institution.

This is contained in a statement signed by Abubakar Ibrahim, Head of Information and Public Relations of the university, and made available to the newsmen on Sunday in Lafia, Nasararawa State.

He explained that the scammers were using fake Facebook and bank accounts to defraud unsuspecting members of the public seeking admission to postgraduate studies at the university.

“The attention of the management of FULafia has been drawn to fake Facebook and bank accounts operated by scammers for the sale of postgraduate applications.

“The scammers are using the following details; account name: Bursary Administrative Accounts, Account No: 4513529294, and Bank Name: Kayi Micro Finance Bank,” he added.

The spokesperson of the university further said that the institution has not commenced the sales of its forms for postgraduate programs.

“We did not authorise any person, group of persons, or company to do that on our behalf.

“We have our procedure for announcing the sales of application forms, admissions, fee payments, and other activities,” the PRO added.

He called on members of the public to disregard the fake news in its entirety and confirm from the school before they transact any business with them.

He therefore said that the university was working with the security agencies to identify and apprehend those involved in the illegal practices. (NAN).
