National Productivity Centre (NPC) says its partnering the Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) to ensure optimal performance of its staff.
Director-General of NPC, Dr. Raji Mustapha, made the disclosure at the opening ceremony of a three-day training organised for the Zonal Officers of NSIRS on Tuesday in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Represented by Mrs. Mojisola Imosun, Nasarawa State Coordinator of NPC, the DG said the training was aimed at enhancing the performances of the participants with a view of boosting the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
He added that the training was aimed at making the staff Productivity Champions and Ambassadors that would drive productivity in service for better delivery.
He explained that NPC as a Federal Government parastatal, was established by act (CAP) 70 of the laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004.
Mustapha pointed out that the centre had the mandate of accelerating socioeconomic growth and development through productivity in all sectors of the economy.
He added that the centre was fully engaged in productivity promotion and advocacy, Research and Survey, productivity measurement and capacity building among others.
The DG said that the centre would train the Zonal Officers of NSIRS on how to add value to their organisational objectives and improve their performance.
“We introduce them to the use of productivity tools and techniques in their offices for enhanced service delivery,” he said.
On his part, Ahmed Yakubu-Mohammed, Chairman, Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service, lauded NPC for the partnership to train his staff on productivity.
The Chairman who was represented by Sabo Balarebe, Permanent Member One of the Service, said the training was in line with the principle of the Gov. Abdullahi Sule-led administration on human capital development through training and re-training.
“That is why we have decided to equip our staff with the requisite knowledge for optimal performance,” he said.
He, therefore, advised them to take the training seriously in order to justify the investment made aimed at developing their capacities.
In his goodwill message, Chris Bamsida, Nasarawa State Coordinator, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) represented by Shaibu Hassan, said the training was apt given the challenges confronting the country.
The DNE Coordinator therefore promised to partner the centre for proper human capital development.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Yakubu Haruna, Lafia Zonal Officer of NSIRS expressed gratitude to the management for organizing such laaudable training.
He expressed optimism that the knowledge gained would help do their work better to boost the revenue profile of the state.
The theme for the training is ‘Workplace Transformation Challenges’. (NAN).
