Court Judges in Nasarawa Want Full Implementation of Welfare Packages

Area Court Judges in Nasarawa State have called for the full implementation of welfare packages for judiciary workers in the state as part of steps towards checking corruption and entrenching sanity in the dispensation of justice.

Chairman of the Area Court Judges  Association of Nigeria Nasarawa State Mr. Ado Musa Mohammed, made the call at the end of a two-day workshop in Lafia the state capital.

The workshop was organized mainly for Presiding Judges of all the Area Courts in Nasarawa State to brainstorm on the emerging new trends in the practice, especially adjudication and jurisdiction.

Nasarawa State Chairman of the Area Court Judges Association of Nigeria Mr Ado Musa Muhammad stated that the workshop was a vital integral component aimed at addressing some of the challenges area court judges in the state face which include inadequate access to modern working tools and logistics.

He called on the state government to step up efforts to pay maximum attention to training and retraining of the area court judges to develop their capacities for optimal dispensation of justice in the rural areas.

Some of the participants Mrs Christiana Tanko and Mr. Sadik Abubakar said the workshop had exposed them to new ideas and laws guiding proceedings in the area courts.

The participants noted that given the difficult terrain of the areas they operate, there was a need for the state government to set aside enormous resources for continuous capacity building.

The training workshop which was organized by the state chapter of the  Association of Area Court Judges of Nigeria featured interactive sessions including questions and answers.
