
Prof. Shehu Abdul-Rahman, Vice Chancellor (VC), Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) says that the institution has graduated 50 first class students waiting to receive certificates.
The VC made the disclosure at a press conference ahead of the combined 6th, 7th, and 8th convocation ceremony of the University on Wednesday in Lafia.
Abdul-Rahman added that 6, 499 students from 53 departments of 12 faculties would be receiving their original certificates at the combined convocation.
He said that the convocation ceremony would take place on Saturday, Feb. 10
He further explained that the institution that started with few departments in 2011, currently has a College of Medicine, School of Basic and Remedial Studies as well as School of Postgraduate Studies.
He said that they were currently running 17 courses at Post-graduation level and nine other courses were awaiting commencement.
“We are graduating 48 PhD students for the first time from various departments in the forthcoming convocation,” he added.
The Vice Chancellor said that the institution has 14 Resourced Centres and Academic Directorates responsible for research, retraining and consulting.
Abdul-Rahman said that he has been building on the formidable foundation and core values of integrity, innovation and excellence put on ground by his predecessors.
He said that these were the core values that always guide their activities in the areas of teaching, research and community service.
Abdul-Rahman added that they have put measures on ground to commercialise their research output and attract investment to the university.
He further said that the management under him has given priority to the training and promotion of all category of staff in order to enhance their capacities for better service delivery.
The VC added that they always equipped knowledge, skills and potential to enable relate well with the people in the society.
The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that the management of the institution is collaborating with the security agencies to provide security for the staff and students within and outside the campus. (NAN).
