CP Yabanet Assumes Duty as 44 Police Commissioner in Plateau 

CP Hassan Steve Yabanet, has assumed office as the 44th Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command in line with the traditional posting posture of the Nigeria Police Force.

This was made known to journalists by the Plateau State Police Command Spokesperson DSP Alfred Alabo on Tuesday in Jos.

CP Yabanet who hails from Kaduna State, took over from his predecessor, Okoro Alawari who was elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 18th May, 1992 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) at Police Academy (POLAC) Wudil, Kano.

He holds a B.A (Hons) in Administration from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.

He has vast experience in policing having attended several tactical and leadership courses within and outside Nigeria, which include the following: citizenship and leadership training course at Shere hills Jos, Plateau State, Advance Detective Course (ADC) Tactical Leadership Command Course (TLCC), Squadron Commander Course, Strategic Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos, and Crime Scene Management Course.

The Commissioner of Police has served with distinction in operational, investigative and administrative capacities across various Police divisions, zones and State Commands in the country.

He was Personal Assistant (P.A) to AIG Zone 4, Unit Commander 41PMF, Commander Federal Task Force Petroleum Pipeline Vandalism Unit, Area Commander, Nsukka Enugu State, ACP Administration Zone 2 Headquarters Lagos, DC Course and Training Police Academy, Wudil Kano, and DC State CID, Kwara State Command.

He was also CP Finance and Administration, Department of Training and Development (DTD) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. 

The Commissioner of Police is a member of the Chartered Institute of Diplomacy and the Nigeria Police recruitment board. He is also a fellow of the esteemed International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).
