Emmanuel Ije, Chairman of the group

A group under the aegis Progressive Like Minds has called on the Supreme Court to review the BVAS records of Gayam and Ciroma Electoral Wards of Lafia before passing its judgment on the Nasarawa State governorship dispute.

This is contained in a statement signed by Emmanuel Ije and Namo Ovye, Chairman and Secretary of the group and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Lafia.

It could be recalled that the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday, November 23 had set aside the judgment of the tribunal of Oct. 2 and declared Gov. Abdullahi Sule of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of March 18 governorship election in the state.

The Appeal Court had upturned the decision of the governorship elections petition tribunal of Oct. 2, that annulled the election of Gov. Sule and declared David Ombugadu of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of March 18 election.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party had since filed an appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the verdict to the Court of Appeal.

Progressive Like Minds had alleged that a lot of external forces were always interfering in the political process of Nasarawa State thereby, denying the people of the state the right to freely elect their leaders.

The group in the statement added that President Bola Tinubu should also intervene by ensuring that justice prevail as as to safe democracy in the state.

They explained that situation where facts and merit would be sacrificed at the altar of technicalities is dangerous and capable of undermining the principle of majority rule.

The leaders of the group also called on the people to continue to be law abiding and shun any tendency capable of causing disharmony in the state. (NAN).
