The Nasarawa State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the judgment of the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja that set aside the decision of the governorship elections petition tribunal.

The tribunal had on Oct. 2, annulled the election of Gov. Abdullahi Sule of All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared David Ombugadu of PDP.

The rejection of the judgment of Appeal Court that upturned the decision of the tribunal is contained in a statement signed by Mr. Francis Orogu, PDP Chairman in the state and made available to newsmen in Lafia.

The PDP Chairman in the statement said the judgment of the Appeal Court is a temporary setback as they would challenge it at the Supreme Court.

The opposition party said that after careful consideration and consultation with their legal team, they rejected the outcome and would file an appeal at the apex court.

“While we respect the judiciary and the rule of law, we firmly believe that the decision by the Court of Appeal does not align with the facts presented during the tribunal proceedings.

“Our legal team has identified significant grounds for appeal and we believe we can get justice at the Supreme Court.

“We have confidence in the legal system and are optimistic that justice will prevail at least,” Orogu added.

The PDP said that the declaration by the tribunal was the true reflection of the will of the people of Nasarawa State at the poll on March 18.

The Nasarawa State PDP Chairman urged thier supporters and members of the public to remain calm and still have confidence in the judiciary.

The PDP appreciated thier supporters for thier prayers and solidarity throughout the period of the struggle from tribunal to appeal court. (NAN).
