Jos East LGA Palliative Committee Distributes 166 Bags of Rice

Palliative Committee of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State have commenced distribution of Rice to the poorest of the poor in the locality.

Statement by the Information Officer of the council, Magit, Yusufu Haruna, said  at the commencement of the distribution at the MDGs Hall Angware, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of the Council, Hon Markus Useini Nyam admonished the committee members to live above board in the discharge of their duties.

The Chairman opined that Jos East took delivery of 50kG of 166bags of rice from the custody of the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for onward distribution to the poorest of the poor across the ten Federal Wards of the locality.

Useini Nyam who doubles as the Chairman of Six member palliative distribution committee with the President, Afizere Cultural and Community Development Association as Secretary, further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope and the Governor Mutfwang “Time is now” led administrations for the provision of the palliative in other to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

The Chairman, unveiled other composition of the Committee to include Traditional rulers, CAN, JNI and  Party leadership, stressed that same committee have been identified at the Ward and polling Unit levels, where they are expected to identify the poorest of the poor as beneficiaries, devoid of political party, ethnic or religious affiliation. 

Nyam while responding to questions from the audience, expressed hope that other palliatives would come in different forms but called for patience and revealed that his administration is poised to treat people with fairness and just.

Contributing, the People’s Democratic party Chairman of the Local Government, Izang Ishaya Adamu and the acting Director, Personnel Management of the Council Yakubu Bereh both appealed to the committee to put behind sentiments and ensure equity in the distribution of the palliative.

The paramount ruler of Izere Nation, Rev. Dr. Isaac Azi Wakili who was represented by the District head of Maigemu, Adagwom Ali Azi Ibrahim commended Government for coming out with the palliative measures and including the Traditional rulers in the composition of the committee, assured that the terms of reference of the distribution would be strictly adhered to.
