
Report has it that Eight (8) people including an eight months old baby were killed last night by terrorists believed to be Fulani herdsmen in Farin Lamba Community of Jos South local government area of Plateau State.
According to a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Moulders BYM, Rwang Tengwong, the attackers came in a Vectra Bus and shot sporadically at the victims who were heading home after the day’s activities.
The eight months old baby who was murdered alongside her father, were said to be returning home from a hospital when they met their untimely death.
“The BYM under the leadership of Solomon Dalyop Mwantiri, hereby condemn the attack and other forms of provocations meted out on innocent Plateau residents since after the 2023 General Elections.
“However, the pronouncement by the new General Officer Commanding, 3 Armoured Division Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar during an on-the-spot assessment at Sabon Gari, Mangu Local Government Area to deal ruthlessly with criminal elements and restore peace to ravaged communities in Plateau state gives renewed hope.
“We believe that the commitment of the new GOC to be firm, decisive and fair to all in the discharge of his constitutional mandate, of protecting lives and property of Citizens, lasting peace will be achieved in no distant time” the statement added.
The persisting attacks in Mangu and other parts of the state has prompted the President of Mwaghavul Development Association MDA, Sir Joseph Gwankat to call on the Federal Government to declare Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria MACBAN a terrorist organisation because of the heinous crimes that its members are perpetrating in various parts of Nigeria.
Also, the Plateau State Youth Council (PYC) through the Chairmen of Mangu, Riyom, Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs have called on the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to as a matter of urgency redeploy the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja to Plateau state in order to halt the genocide and carnage being perpetrated in Mangu, Riyom, Bassa, Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs of the State.
The Plateau State Government had yesterday Sunday imposed 24 hours curfew in the entire Mangu local government area to halt the attack in the locality.
