
All Progressives Congress, APC Stakeholders in Nasarawa State have condemned the recent attack on a Chieftain of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Abu Giza by a group of thugs and called for thorough investigations into the act.
Spokesperson for a group of APC stakeholders and family members of the victim, Mr Bayero Omaku gave this indication during a news briefing in Lafia, Monday.
Mr. Bayero Omaku stated that a group of thugs attacked Alhaji Abu Giza and tore his clothes to pieces while he was on the entourage of Governor Abdullahi Sule who paid courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia as part of his re election campaign rally.
According to him, the attack which was unprovoked portends danger to the peaceful conduct of the electoral process unless proactive steps were taken to forestall the trend.
He explained that the physical assault on the Chieftain, a retired permanent secretary of the Federal Civil Service who had committed enormous resources, time and energy to work for the APC was a wake up call for the party to put its house in order.
Mr. Bayero Omaku while calling on the security agencies to ensure thorough investigations into the act with the view of identifying the perpetrators and their sponsors, called on APC supporters especially youths to remain calm and shun the temptation of taking laws into their hands.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Nasarawa State Alhaji Abdullahi Sule in a statement said the squabbles between APC supporters which occured in Toto and Keana Local Government Areas of the state as well as the attack on the APC Chieftain during his campaign rally were unacceptable.
