
Two people were crushed to death by a heavy duty truck belonging to a construction company in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital.
The accident which occured along Lafia Jos road by the Nasarawa State Polytechnic Lafia at about 7 o’clock in the evening of Saturday, involved a commercial motorcycle rider and a passenger.
A security official who was involved in removing the corpse of the motorcycle rider from under the truck attributed the cause of the accident to the one way drive along the road due to collapse of one part of the bridge linking the area to Lafia town.
The security official who pleaded to speak under the condition of anonymity, while confirming the deaths of the yet to be identified persons called on authorities to expedite action to ensure speedy completion of the collapsed bridge to curtail further loss of lives in the area.
It could be recalled that few months ago Daily News Breakers reported that heavy downpour washed away parts of the road from Bukan Sidi to Polytechnic in Lafia, where residents appealed to the authority concerned to fix the road, but is yet to be attended too by the authority.
