
A paramount ruler of the Izere Nation in Plateau State, the Agwom Izere, Rev. Dr Isaac Wakili has called on Legislators to brace up to their obligatory task to ensure good Governance at all levels.
The Monarch made the call while in audience with the lawmakers of Jos East local government area, led by the Legislative Leader, Engr. Samuel Azi Kayarda in his Palace at Shere, Jos East local government area recently.
In a statement by the Information Officer of the local government, Mr. Yusufu Magit, the paramount ruler urged them to make laws that would have direct bearing on the lives of the citizens and ensure they carry out oversight function as part of their civic responsibilities.
The Royal Father also used the opportunity and commended the Legislative Leader, for carrying everyone along in his leadership and pledged that the traditional council will accord them the needed support to succeed.
The Legislative Leader, Engr. Samuel Azi Kayarda had earlier informed the first class Chief that they were in his palace to introduce some House Committees to him as well as to rub minds together and further seek for his wise counsel.

The Legislative Leader also opined that as representative of their people from various Wards, their function is to ensure checks and balances while carrying out their oversight as well as bear their minds on matters of urgent public importance to the advantage of their electorates.
Speaking separately, leaders of various House Committees present, Hon. Jonathan John, Hon. Izang Atsen, Hon. Ajang Atu, Hon. Emmanuel Izang Ashom and Hon. Samuel Sarki who are either chairing or representing Committees such as Chieftaincy Affairs, Security, Revenue, Lands and Survey, among others, appreciated the Royal father for granting them the opportunity to interface with him and for the words of wisdom received, pledged to deliver on their task.
During plenary, the house deliberated on issues of public importance which was brought at the floor by Councillor representing Jarawan Kogi “B”, Ajang Atu on a bridge and electric poles at Gada in Maigemu District, linking Angware in Plateau State and Rinjin Gani road in Bauchi State.
The lawmaker appealed for urgent measures to be taken as the bridge is at the verge of collapsing due to erosion as a result of heavy rain which has also affected some electric poles along the river bangs
The house therefore, mandated Committee on works to ensure immediate steps are taken to avert collapse of the bridge and electric poles beside the bridge.
Also on the floor of the house was an appreciation by the Councillor representing Maijuju Doss Ward, Hon Ajang Markus for the support accorded him and Hon Luka Nyam Azi, Councillor representing Shere East Ward to emerge victorious as Northern Zonal Treasurer and State Treasurer respectively, during the recent election of Plateau State Councillors Forum.
The local government Legislative arm also observed two minutes silence in honour of a daughter of the soil, late Justice Ladi Agyer Madaki who passed on recently as they prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest and comfort her immediate family, relations, Judiciary, Izere Nation, Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
