Bye-election:  Plateau Speaker Salutes Peaceful Conduct, Congratulates Winners

The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly Yakubu Sanda has rejoices with the winners of Pankshin South state constituency bye-election, Chief Ezra Dakup of the APC and that of Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Musa Agah of the PDP.

The election which was held on Saturday was peaceful as adjudged by electorates across the two Constituency.

In a statement by his Press Secretary Sabastine Hommuk, the speaker also salutes the steadfastness and commitment of the electorates that saw to the peaceful conduct of the elections.

The Speaker noted that, the orderly manner the electorates conducted themselves which ensure that there was no break down of law, is an indication that Plateau people are truly a peace loving people.

In the same manner, the speaker also applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for the professionalism exhibited in the conduct of the exercise and the level playing ground for all stakeholders in the process of the exercise.

The Speaker equally commended the neutrality of the Security agencies, NGOs  and other Stakeholders that led to the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

He called on the winners to see their victories as a social contract between them and their constituents, as such they should justify the trust and confidence of the people.

The Speaker urged them to put aside their religious and political differences– and other considerations and dedicate themselves for the unity, peace and purposeful representation of the people as legislators.

Rt. Hon Sanda assured them of his support and that of the House of Assembly in creating positive impact in the legislative system.
