A LEADER FOR ALL: ZONING IS A CHEAP GOALLESS GOAL AND SETBACK TO NASARAWA STATE -Hon. Umbugadu

Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu

As the 2027 governorship election approaches, the conversation should be about merit and competence, not tribalism or geopolitical zoning.

If at all there was zoning in Nasarawa state, then it has ended its circle and we should allow all the zones to freely choose the zone to begin another phase of zoning.
Whatever zone that wins the 2027 gubernatorial Election now commences another circle of zoning.

Take notice that zoning does not always start from the first to last but could start from the last to first!
When zoning undermines competence, groups and Faith to favour others, it should be summarily rejected as it is counterproductive and self serving!

We have carefully looked at proponents for zoning to be insincere and work towards specific group’s interests! At one breath they are for zoning, at another breath they are against zoning.

This same proponents rejected zoning in 2019 and contested with Engr. AA Sule in 2019. Now that it suits them, they are beating drums of zoning at the expense of competence and inclusiveness!

Furthermore, leadership is not about a candidate’s district, but about their ability to unite the entire state. The push for zoning is a distraction that threatens our progress.

This is why Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, “Doctor for the Poor,” is the most credible successor to Governor Sule. His professional and political credentials, along with his unwavering dedication to community development, speak for themselves. Beyond his time as a Member of the House of Representatives, he has spent a lifetime healing and serving from Nasarawa to the world, demonstrating a profound commitment to humanity. Soon, his legacy will be further cemented with the commissioning of a 150-bed capacity facility dedicated to providing free medical treatment to Nigerians.

We call on Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, a leader who listens to the masses, to honor the voice of the people. The choice of a successor is critical, and the people’s voice is in the appreciation for Dr. Kigbu’s record of selfless service. By giving him an automatic APC ticket, Governor Sule can ensure a seamless transition and a future of sustained progress and unity.

Hon. Mustapha Umbugadu: Lafia Coordinator, Nasarawa state Indigenous Peoples Forum.
